Tengo la suerte de ser docente en el área de mi especialidad como odontólogo (rehabilitación oral – prótesis fija) en una universidad privada de mi país y la experiencia de estar en contacto permanente con chicos que están al final de su formación universitaria y ad portas de enfrentarse al “mundo real” es muy enriquecedora sobre todo porque a uno lo llevan en un segundo a un flashback rapidísimo de las cosas que uno pensaba sentía y temía a esa edad o etapa de la vida.
La pregunta que me formulan con frecuencia es ¿ Doctor y como me ira como dentista, tendré éxito en el futuro?
Sin duda que nadie tiene una bolita mágica para poder saber que nos deparará el futuro y si la hubiese creo que la vida sería un poco aburrida. Siempre he sido un fiel creyente que el éxito profesional y el tener un buen futuro dependen exclusivamente de uno, del talento personal pero no como tal si no en la nobleza de poder desarrollarlo, cultivarlo y volcarlo hacia la realización personal.
Sin duda que las habilidades son innatas y que muchas veces hay pequeños factores que le llaman suerte que pueden influir en el éxito profesional y el futuro de una persona pero el 99.9% de lo demás para ese éxito está en uno, más aún tratándose de una carrera que fundamentalmente es independiente.
El camino de la vida es difícil y complicado y muchas veces el éxito es solo basado en el tamaño de la cuenta bancaria, lo cual mal no está porque es innegable que la pregunta título de nuestra nota tiene que ver con eso, pero no todo se puede reducir eso, sino que la satisfacción de devolver la alegría, mejorar el autoestima o lograr un resultado con un tratamiento que era una meta personal para el paciente es parte del éxito y buen futuro al que debemos apuntar.
Es normal sentir miedo y angustias de cara al futuro pero el carácter está en enfrentarlos, superarlos, prepararnos académicamente, practicar una odontología honesta y hacer de cada tratamiento un resultado único que con pasión y energía harán de nuestra práctica y vida profesional un éxito asegurado……el resto viene por sí solo!!
