The space: Situated in the agricultural community of Allupampa, this two-story casita is a ten minute drive from Urubamba. The open-concept second floor has an expansive window that invites the Urubamba gorge and the constantly changing sky into the loft. It includes a full kitchen, living room, and office space. A full-bath completes the loft.

The generous first floor bedroom has two single beds, a reading area, closet, full bath and large flat-screen TV with a library of DVDs. Step outside and share the intimate garden’s brilliant colors with the frequent arrival of iridescent humming birds. For a morning hike, exit the property and head up the mountain.

G The LoftConveniently located (five minute walk to main road, public transportation and two excellent restaurants), it suits the traveling spirit and, at the same time, is a respite from touring.

The Sacred Valley offers an array of exciting and interesting activities for guests, all conveniently located. Day trips can combine any of the following: horseback riding, hiking, visiting the stunning ruins of Pisac, Moray, Salinaras (salt mining), or Ollantaytambo.

Also available is a visit to the famous Chinchero Textile School with its wide variety of original weavings on sale.

Want to add a little more pizazz to your trip? There are four-wheeler (cuatrimoto) tours, zip-lining at Via Ferrata, river rafting, and hang gliding—easy access from the casita.

And, last but not least, a trip to Machu Picchu, departing from the train station in Ollantaytambo, a mere 25 minutes away.

Getting Around: For your convenience, we have drivers who can get you where you need to go. You can be picked up at the airport in Cuzco, enjoy a calm ride through the Sacred Valley, stopping for photos along the way, all the while imagining the Inca and his coterie of personages walking from Cuzco to Machu Picchu. S/. 130 (approx. $38). Drivers are also available for half-day or all-day trips to the ruins and other activities. For local travel moto-taxis are popular, numerous, and conveniently hailed on the main road.
